Brush the Cobwebs Off Your Creativity! Make them horrifying or hilarious! Monstrous or mirthsome!
Traditional Harvest Scarecrow Entry Preschool thru Grade 5 Grade 6 thru Grade 12 Adult/Commercial/Organization These scarecrows will be typically old-fashioned figures constructed from throw-aways from the farm. Clothing, hay, stuffing, burlap, farm implements, and farm produce (corn husks, vegetables, pumpkins, etc) are a few ideas of the traditional scarecrow.
Humorous Scarecrow Entry Preschool thru Grade 5 Grade 6 thru Grade 12 Adult/Commercial/Organization These scarecrows will evoke a smile! Current events, storybook characters, cartoon figures, crazy characters, out-of-the-ordinary situations are just a few ideas for the humorous scarecrows. Use your imagination and creativity!
Cash prizes awarded to youth winners in each category and each age group: 1st place - $100 2nd place - $50 3rd place - $30
Traveling trophy awarded to Adult/Commercial/Organization winners.
Framed Certificate awarded to People's Choice recipient.
Materials All scarecrow entries will be displayed in Campbell Park and may be subjected to severe wind, snow, and rain. Their construction should be durable, and all decorations securely attached. Entries remain the sole property of entrant.
Armature Each scarecrow must have horizontal support of wood for the body (2”x4” post preferred). This support is needed as each scarecrow is wired to a steel fence post for display. Steel fence posts are provided, but the entrant should bring a method for attaching the scarecrow.
Size Limitation Maximum display height is 7 feet. The entire structure is considered to be the dimension of the exhibit – not the dimension of the actual scarecrow within the exhibit.

Decorated Pumpkin Entry Individual youth entries only: Preschool and Kindergarten Grades 1 thru Grade 4 Grades 5 thru Grade 8
Grades 9 thru Grade 12
Pumpkin should be an original design. Use of painting kits and pre-made stencils not allowed.
Pre-registration not required for decorated pumpkins. On-site registration begins Thursday, October 9 at 9 a.m. and continues until Saturday, October 11 at 12:00 noon.
Prizes awarded to winners in each category and each age group:
1st place - $50 savings bond
2nd place - $20
3rd place - $15
4th place - $10
Festival Place and Date Festival will be held at Campbell Park in Huron during October 9-12, 2008. Scarecrow entrants set up their displays in Campbell Park on Thursday, October 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Judging Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in Campbell Park on Sun., Oct. 12th at 2:30 p.m. Entrants need not be present to win.

Entry Set-Up
Scarecrow entrants are responsible for bringing displays to Campbell Park on Thursday., Oct. 9, 2008 between 9:00 a.m.to 7:00 p.m.
Lion/Lioness Club members will be available to assist entrants.
Restrictions
*One entry per group.
*No political statements allowed.
*Youth entries must be completed by youth. Parents may assist in placing scarecrow in patch.
*All entries must conform to Club standards. Clubs reserve the right to deny entry privileges considered to be offensive.
*Clubs shall not be responsible for any injury or damage associated with Festival.
