While you're enjoying your visit to Huron, there are a few highlights we urge you not to miss our beautiful outdoor mural collection, the World's Largest Pheasant statue, and our historic museums.
Murals On The Town
Using city buildings as its canvas, the community of Huron tells its story through colorful murals. Outdoor murals grace the sides of downtown buildings and depict unique aspects of Huron’s history. New murals are added to the collection annually.
While visiting Huron, take time to tour a few of our museums such as the Dakotaland Museum, which houses artifacts that represent the heritage of Huron and Beadle County. Next, take time to tour the well-preserved Pyle House Museum and enjoy a nostalgic trip through Humphrey Drug Store.
Waterfowl Protection Area
Outdoor enthusiasts will want to visit the Waterfowl Protection Area just west of Huron. The family-friendly refuge is the perfect place to enjoy bird watching, wildlife observation, walking trails, photography and other environmental opportunities.
World's Largest Pheasant
The Pheasant is located in Highway 14 near the Dakota Inn. Steel and fiberglass have been molded to create a 28 foot, 22 ton pheasant. From the tip of its feathered tail to its beak, it spans 40 feet.
