Nordby Center for Recreation

nordby centerThe Nordby Center for Recreation offers quality social, cultural and recreational programs designed for people of all ages! It is a premier recreational facility open year-round, seven days a week. The facility includes a track, pool, weight room, tennis, basketball, volleyball and racquetball courts. The center is open to both members and non-members.

Dakota State Fair Speedway

Dakota State Fair Speedway is one of the top stock car racing facilities in the upper Midwest.  Located at the SD State Fairgrounds, the 3/8 mile oval track features five different divisions that compete on a weekly basis throughout the summer.  The speedway also features special races throughout the year such as the Challenge Cup featuring late models at their best.  Also featured are the ASCS National sprints, the 4th of July spectacular and the Central Wissota 100 which makes this the most exciting show in the Midwest.

Huron Arena

Huron ArenaThe Huron Arena is located in the heart of Huron connected to the Huron Event Center & Crossroads Hotel. The arena host many events including concerts, trade shows, the shrine circus and athletic games. With 15,000 square feet, the arena can accommodate up to 7,000 people. Located at 150 5th Street SW.

Rolling Thunder Speedway

The Rolling Thunder Speedway kicks off its season the first weekend in May continuing through September. The speedway is located east of Huron one mile west of Ninth Street and Custer Avenue. The race track also plays host to the IKF 4-Cycle Speedway Grand Nationals.

The Heartland 4-H Rodeo Grounds and SD State Fairgrounds supply many areas for all your livestock and equestrian needs.

Community Activity Center / Bergman Arena

The Activity Center is a great place to host church activities, birthday parties, graduation parties, or family gatherings. It offers a large array of activities including indoor soccer, ice skating and basketball; however, it is most widely known as home of the Huron All Stars Hockey Teams. During the winter season, hundreds of youth participate in the Huron Hockey Association hockey season. The facility also offers open skating as well as ice shows throughout the winter months. Cross-country skis can be rented for a day or weekend rate.

Kunhart Field Softball Complex

Located at 1600 5th Street SW, Kunhart Field consists of a 12 acre, six diamond softball complex. Four new diamonds were constructed in 1975 around the old Kunhart Field. These diamonds are lighted with installation of dug-outs and bleachers in 1976. This project was accomplished with the help of BOR funding. Installation of under-ground watering system was installed in 1978. A maintenance building was constructed for the area in 1980. A new diamond was constructed in 1993.

Mt. Dew Softball Complex

Located at 1655 9th Street SW, Mt. Dew Softball Complex is connected to the Kunhart Complex by a trail. The newly constructed Mountain Dew Softball Complex adds four 300 foot softball fields that have expanded league play and allows us to host visitors at many tournaments. All diamonds have shade shelters. Bathroom and concession facilities are available.

Roger Kasa Baseball Complex

This complex is located at 555 15th Street SW and consists of six baseball diamonds of which are irrigated through Sertoma Club funds. Agrilime infields were installed and building improvements have been made. A trail runs through the complex.

Pepsi Soccer Fields

Pepsi Fields Soccer Complex is located at 1450 9th Street SW. A comfort station, storage, shade shelter, and concession area has been constructed and scoreboards installed. 6 olympic-size fields are complete and usable for all levels of soccer. 2 fields are used during the youth tackle football programs.

Memorial Baseball Field

390 Jersey Ave NE. Renovated in 1996-97 the baseball park has new seating and landscaping in progress on the hillside. Fence replacement will need to be done as flood waters have caused damage. A large scoreboard has been donated and a batting cage was installed.

Bowling

Bowling is offered at two locations in Huron. Riverview Lanes offers a variety of bowling leagues that locals can enter and a number of activities for those of you who are just passing through. You can also join the bowling scene at Fair City Lanes where they offer competitive leagues as well, both youth and adult leagues. Open bowling available along with automatic scoring.
