What are the components for a truly memorable weekend in Huron? See thousands of gleaming wheels, walk through a wide variety of vendors and eat some great food, listen to the hottest bands, or just relax and enjoy a fun-filled weekend on the South Dakota State Fairgrounds. Wheel Jam is held in conjunction with the original BBQ Championships. Take in the Dakota Promotions Wheel Jam & Wild Race Car Night on June 2nd and Wheel Jam – Challenge Cup XX on June 4th.

Experience South Dakota’s premier annual BBQ festival at the Original SD BBQ Championships! Held in conjunction with the annual Wheel Jam event, the SD BBQ Championships bring together the best of the best barbecue masters in the region as they compete to be crowned the reigning barbecue champion. Don’t miss the opportunity to taste award winning chili at the F.A.T. Friday Chili Challenge on June 3rd and outstanding BBQ tasting at the Back Yard BBQ Competition on June 4th.

Let freedom ring upon the town of Huron at the annual Independence Day Celebration. From spectacular firework displays to community camaraderie, join us as we celebrate the red, white, and blue! Plan to join us for a parade, vendor fair & BBQ in Campbell Park hosted by the Huron Chamber & Visitors Bureau.

This annual event is perfect for both the casual athlete and the seasoned racer with a beautiful, flat and fast course that will allow you to really see how fast you can go.

BACK THIS YEAR! Olympic distance race in addition to the sprint event.

Businesses are encouraged to form a team and compete in the sprint distance for a traveling Corporate Crank trophy, team members must be employees or employee family members.

Helmets are required and swim caps are also required. A limited supply of orange latex caps are available.

FREE KIDS' FUN RUN - The fun run is free and open to kids ages 12 and under and will start after the races. No preregistration is necessary just a parental waiver for the fun run and all participants will receive a treat courtesy of Putters & Scoops

The Huron Chamber & Visitors Bureau organizes the Chamber Golf Classic every year in August. The event rotates between Broadland Creek Golf Course and The Huron Country Club. The Chamber Golf Classic is a 9-Hole, Four Person Scramble. This is a great membership networking opportunity.

Held annually, the South Dakota State Fair represents a celebration of agriculture industry and entertainment. Experience South Dakota’s largest carnival midway, award winning entertainment, State 4-H and FFA exhibits and championships including livestock shows.

Father's Day Weekend

Experience the historical days of antique tractors, cars, steam and stationary gas engines during the Antique Tractor and Power Show at the SD State Fairgrounds. The event features about 150 exhibits and displays, entertainment, demonstrations, flea market, parade and tractor and car games. Camping on the state fairgrounds is available.

Established in October 1986, the Spirit of Dakota Award is an annual honor bestowed each fall by the Spirit of Dakota Award Society. This state-wide event is held at the Huron Event Center. The committee seeks nominations from the public for this award.

As the leaves begin to fall, the community of Huron comes together to celebrate the return of Autumn at the Annual Great Scarecrow Festival, held in Campbell Park and hosted by the Huron Public Library

Celebrate harvest with Huron Connect at the SD State Fairgrounds. This family friendly event features kids costume contest, crafts and games to entertain the kids for hours.

Ringneck Festival & Bird Dog Challenge

Ringneck Festival & Bird Dog Challenge

The Ringneck Festival competitive hunt consists of six-member teams, each attempting to bring back 18 pheasants. Each member is allowed four shells, for a team limit of 24. Limiting the number of shells helps ensure that hunters will take clean shots, reducing the number of injured birds.

The entry fee is $1,800 per team ($300 per hunter) which includes meals, hunts, live entertainment, and prizes. The winning team members and hosting landowner each receive a shotgun.
