The Huron Fire Department has 9 full-time fire fighters, up to 36 paid volunteer fire fighters,
and has an ISO rating of 5. If you would be interested in becoming a volunteer fire fighter for
the City of Huron please contact us.
The City of Huron as two fire stations. The North station, located at 1357 Dakota Ave N, houses
4 fire trucks and 1 ambulance, owned and operated by the Huron Ambulance Association.
The South station, located at 310 21st Street SW, houses 2 fire trucks and 2 ambulances,
owned and operated by the Huron Ambulance Association.
Huron Ambulance Association. The Huron Ambulance Association's office is located at the

Huron Ambulance Services, Incorporated is a non-profit, membership organization compiled
of citizens from the community who perform services on a volunteer basis. The service provides 24-hour
Basic Life Support to the residents of the City of Huron and the surrounding community. Huron
Ambulance employs one bookkeeper and is supported by 22 paid volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians.
There is an executive board consisting of 5 members selected from and by the membership. All ambulance
personnel are certified by the State of South Dakota Department of Health as EMT/Basic as prescribed
by the United States Department of Transportation. Members attend training sessions the 2nd Tuesday
of every month at the North Fire Station. Huron Ambulance runs an average of 800 calls per year.
They also provide standby services at fires, athletic events, and community functions. Community
training programs are provided in CPR/Basic Life Support. The South Dakota EMS Association certifies
all ambulance vehicles used by the Huron Ambulance Service.
