City Commission meetings are held each Monday at 5:30pm in the commission chambers located at 239 Wisconsin Ave SW. When a Holiday falls on Monday, a meeting will not be held.
Mayor Paul Aylward
Paul was born in Denison, Iowa, and graduated from AR-WE-VA High School in Westside, Iowa. He attended Huron College and then served for two years in the US Army. He returned to Huron and worked for Armour & Company for 15 years. He worked for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO as Executive Director for 27½ years retiring in 2011. Paul and his wife Mary have been married for 50 years. They have two daughters, Chris and Angie, 1 granddaughter and 4 grandsons.
Douglas Kludt, Finance Commissioner
Doug is a native of Huron and a 1971 graduate of Huron High School. He received a B.A. degree in government and a J.D. degree from the University of South Dakota. He is a partner in the Churchill, Manolis, Freeman, Kludt, Shelton & Burns Law Firm. Prior to joining the firm in 1985, he served as a South Dakota assistant attorney general in Pierre. He is married to Rhonda Kludt, Executive Director of the United Way Heartland Region. They have two adult children Rachel (Mrs. Levi) Kary of Sioux Falls and Thomas of New York City.

Gary graduated from Huron College in 1972. He worked for the Department of Social Services for 38 ½ years and for the last eleven years he had been Supervisor of a fifteen county Child Support Unit for the State. Gary and his wife, Rosie, recently celebrated forty years of marriage. They have one daughter, Cassie. Cassie and her husband, Leo, and two grandchildren, Ella and Connor, live in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Gary is looking forward to learning and working as City Commissioner.
Mark Robish, Utilities Commissioner
Mark was born, raised and has lived in the Huron area his entire life. He feels it’s been a great place to grow up and live, and now as City Commissioner it has been a new experience to see how Huron works. He invites the challenge to keep Huron a great place to live and raise a family. Mark and his wife Lori have been married for 25 years and have 4 children. Mark’s hobbies are hunting, spending time at the lake and following area high school and college sports.
Bryan Smith, Public Works Commissioner
Bryan is a Huron native and is married to Teresa. They have three children; Emma, Hannah and William. Bryan is a graduate of Huron High School and Lake Area Vocational School. Bryan is employed with Dakotaland Federal Credit Union as Vice President of Lending, a position he has held since 1997. Bryan is involved with various clubs and community events and enjoys outdoor activities along with his family.
